SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Body camera footage has been released related to an incident where officers in Salt Lake City exchanged gunfire with a suspect after responding to reports of a fight. More than two weeks after that incident, the suspect is still at large.
Early in the morning of Dec. 13, Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) responded to reports of a fight near 200 West and Pierpont Avenue. According to police, the caller told the dispatcher that “everyone had guns” and hung up. Two other people called to report fighting on Pierpont Avenue.

At 3 a.m., an officer radioed and reported that no active fighting was happening, but at 3:11 a.m., there were multiple gunshots. Officers sprinted towards the gunfire, and this was recorded on their body-worn cameras.
Footage from one officer’s body-worn camera shows one officer getting out of a patrol car and joining another officer as they walk down the street. One officer can be heard saying, “I hate this place,” and the other officer replies, “It used to be… every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, there was a shooting, every single time.”…
