SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Detectives with the Utah State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) apprehended a suspect allegedly attempting to entice who he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
Andrew Ross Blodgett, 22, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Tuesday evening on suspicion of attempted child rape, a first-degree felony, enticing a minor, a second-degree felony, and prohibited dangerous weapon conduct, a third-degree felony.
On Dec. 30, 2025, an SBI detective posing as a 13-year-old girl on a popular messaging application, was contacted by a user under the name, “801 playa,” who allegedly solicited sex.

The two decided to meet up at a mall in West Valley where police set up surveillance. Before meeting up, Blodgett reportedly said he would be wearing a gold watch. Surveillance soon identified an individual “manipulating his phone in concert with attempted phone calls.”…
