SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Gang activity is happening more frequently and with younger children, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Metro Gang Unit.
Lieutenant Nate Hutchinson, project director for the Salt Lake Area Gang Project, said one of the trickiest things about gang violence is that it can erupt at random and in public places.
While the Salt Lake City Police Department has yet to confirm the cause of Wednesday night’s Rose Park shooting, many in the community are speculating about gang involvement.

“We are involved with the gangs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So, we have a ton of intelligence, we know who the players are and stuff like that,” Hutchinson said. “The kids are getting younger and younger.”…
