Teen stabs grandmother 10 times in Sandy, police say

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — An 18-year-old man was arrested in Sandy on Sunday for stabbing his grandmother up to 10 times, according to Sandy Police.

Andrew Miguel Gutierrez, 18, was arrested in Salt Lake County on aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury (second-degree felony) and two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child – injury/weapon/death (third-degree felony).

On Jan. 11, Sandy police officers responded to an apartment on the 200 block of West Harrison Street on reports of a stabbing that had just occurred. When officers arrived on scene, they entered the apartment and found the victim, who had been stabbed “a total of about 8-10 times,” court documents state…
