Man flees hit-and-run, crashes into pond while driving under the influence, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in police custody after police said he flipped his car into a small body of water while allegedly fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run and driving under the influence.

Sgt. Jeff Smith with the West Valley City Police Department said police first received reports of the incident at approximately 10:18 p.m.

While responding to the crash, Smith said police received reports of a hit-and-run involving a UTA bus, and that the car in the body of water matched the description of the vehicle involved…
