Cinemark’s ‘bring your own bucket’ event returns this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — To celebrate National Popcorn Day, Cinemark is bringing back its popular “bring your own bucket” event this Sunday and Monday.

You can bring in your own container to fill with up to 400 ounces of popcorn for just $5 on Sunday Jan. 18 and Monday Jan. 19. Additionally, all normal sizes of popcorn will be $5 on those days for people who don’t bring their own container.

Last year, people got creative, bringing all kinds of shapes and sizes of containers for their buckets. There is a size limit of 400 ounces (which is double the size of a traditional extra-large popcorn at Cinemark), but if you bring a 5-gallon blue bucket from Lowe’s, that size limit does not apply, and they will fill up all five gallons with popcorn.

Because Cinemark is partnering with Lowe’s for this event, if you bring a Lowe’s bucket, you’ll also get a coupon for a free medium popcorn with the purchase of a medium drink that can be used between Feb. 1 and 26.

You also do not have to purchase a movie ticket to participate in the event, though, of course, a movie is the perfect place to eat your popcorn…
