Beloved Salt Lake dessert shop, So Cupcake, to close after 18 years

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A local dessert business is saying goodbye to the Salt Lake community after 18 years in business.

So Cupcake will be closing at the end of February, right after its 18th anniversary. The cupcake shop opened back in February 2008 and is located at 4002 S Highland Drive.

“It is so sad, but it is time. Things are so crazy out there and so expensive, and we just feel like it’s the right time. Next month, we will have made it to 18 years, which is, like amazing that we have been here for 18 years,” the owner, Natalie Jensen, shared in a video. “We are so thankful to have been a part of the community and everything. We have felt your love, felt your support, and So Cupcake is such a special place.”

In the summer of 2007, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Jensen’s daughter, Celina, a wish to fly to New York City and taste the best food. Celina was invited onto the “Emeril” cooking show, and Jensen cites this trip as the inspiration for So Cupcake…
