A fatal vehicle accident occurred this past Saturday on I-80 near milepost 70, as reported by the Utah Department of Public Safety. At roughly 2:00 PM, a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT Pickup Truck heading westbound veered into the median, oscillating on and off the road before rotating and overturning. Tragically, the driver, 76-year-old Taniela Kauvaka Hiva Patetefa from Salt Lake City, Utah, was thrown from the vehicle and did not survive.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, Patetefa was not using a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the severity of the outcome.
