MILAN, Italy — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Tuesday its support for the 2034 Utah Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
That support includes “a significant financial donation,” access to Block 85 in downtown Salt Lake City as an official Olympic venue, land near proposed Olympic sites that can be used for parking and thousands of volunteers.
The announcement was made by Bishop Sean Douglas, second counselor in the church’s Presiding Bishopric, during a media event ahead of this year’s Milano Cortina Olympics at the headquarters of the Milan Foreign Press Association in Italy…
