SLCPD arrests man for alleged drug possession, intent to distribute at Pioneer Park

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 9, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police arrested a 39-year-old man at Pioneer Park after he was allegedly seen smoking fentanyl within 40 yards of children in a playground area.

“Pioneer Park is a documented high drug trafficking area where I have personally arrested individuals who I have observed distributing narcotics,” says an arrest document filed Saturday for Joshua Udell.

“Joshua informed police he was possessing methamphetamine. Pursuant to search incident to arrest, a total of seven individually wrapped bindles were located in Joshua’s pocket. The manner of which these bindels were wrapped were consistent with the sale of narcotics…
