Wild turkey hit by car in Rose Park brings up larger frustrations in community with traffic

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — After one of the wild Rose Park turkeys was hit and killed by a car, residents are expressing their larger frustrations with traffic in the neighborhood.

Victoria Petro, Salt Lake City Councilwoman for District One, told ABC4 that the Rose Park turkeys are a point of local pride.

“If you honk your horn at them, they gobble back at you, so we call her Rosie and her kids, and people post them on a Facebook page, and it’s a really nice break, especially in a community like ours that sometimes has to fight for happy things and good things to happen,” she said.

The turkeys live in the area of 700 North and Redwood Road. A bridge has been closed on 600 North for a while, and a lot of traffic has been diverted to 500 North, which is where the turkey was hit…
