SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah’s executive appropriations committee voted unanimously to give back the millions in state funding lawmakers pulled from Utah State University (USU) last year.
During the 2025 legislative session, the Utah legislature passed House Bill 265, withholding approximately 10% of instructional budgets from public universities, including roughly $12 million from USU.
At USU, the review raised concerns about excessive and poorly overseen expenses by the former president, including a $750 bidet and a climate-controlled golf cart.
