Funeral plans announced for South Davis Metro Fire Chief

BOUNTIFUL, Utah (ABC4) — The South Davis Metro Fire Service Area (SDMFSA) has announced funeral procession plans for Chief Greg Stewart, which may lead to traffic delays in the area.

On February 20, 2026, SDMFSA’s Fire Chief Greg Stewart passed away due to undisclosed reasons. Chief Stewart worked for SDMFSA since 2001 and served as firefighter, engineer, captain, battalion chief, and deputy fire chief. In October of 2024, he was promoted to fire chief.

In his obituary, family described Chief Stewart. They said, “He was always the first one in and the last one out. Greg loved being a firefighter. He loved the crews and his community. He loved each person on the department individually. He knew their families and he cared about the things that were going on in their lives. He was the calm in many people’s storms. He loved big and gave of himself freely.”

On their social media, SDMFSA stated, “Chief Stewart was a visionary leader with a deep commitment to serve others and his community. He was most known for his natural ability to see the potential in his people and actively invest in their growth and development.”…
