Cold Case: Homicide of 22-year-old woman remains unsolved 50 years later

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Five decades after a 22-year-old woman was killed under suspicious circumstances, the case remains unsolved.

Joy Kathleen Jones Harmon, 22, was last seen on Mar. 2, 1976, at the Better Days Bar in Salt Lake City. The bar, now a medical cannabis location, was located at 726 South State Street.

According to the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), Harmon left the bar alone around midnight. However, she was reported missing when she did not arrive for work the following morning.

Harmon, known to many as “Kathy,” couldn’t be reached by phone and was not at her apartment when police began searching for her…
