Thieves steal thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from Home Depot, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — The Cedar City Home Depot has had thousands of dollars of merchandise stolen by the same three or more people throughout February and early March, police say.

A police affidavit says that starting at the beginning of February, the suspects were repeatedly seen stealing high‑value merchandise from the Home Depot. Typically, the suspects would just walk out of the store without paying for the items, sometimes showing a fake receipt or having one person distract the worker at the door, the affidavit said.

Suspects were seen at least seven different times, walking out of the store without paying with a total merchandise value ranging from $45 to $1,741.89, according to the affidavit…
