Woman assaults Uber driver after dispute over route, police arrest suspect

LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — With help from the public, police identified the woman involved in an assault against an Uber driver.

Melissa Gearhart, 41, was arrested early Monday morning and facing an assault misdemeanor charge following an assault against an Uber driver.

On Sunday evening, officers with the Lehi City Police Department responded to reports of an Uber driver assault involving a female rider. According to arrest documents, the Uber driver picked up two individuals from Eagle Mountain and was originally going to drop them off in Draper. However, Gearhart was upset with the route the driver was taking. Because tensions were rising, the driver dropped her off at the Megaplex Theatre complex.
