Local gang member sentenced to 14 years in prison for 2017 attempted murder, other offenses

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A local Florencia 13 gang member has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of attempted murder and firearm trafficking.

25-year-old Angel Medina-Sahagun, from West Valley City was sentenced to 168 months (14 years) in prison this week. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after prison and to pay an undisclosed amount in restitution to a victim.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah, Medina-Sahagun is a known gang member of Florencia 13, a criminal street gang. In November 2017, another member of Florencia 13 allegedly told Medina-Sahagun to go to a TRAX station…
