‘We want to make them feel like the stars that they are’: Taylorsville theater rolls out the red carpet for World Down Syndrome Day

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — The Regal Crossroads Theater in Taylorsville rolled out the red carpet for World Down Syndrome Day on Saturday.

World Down Syndrome Day is observed on March 21 (3/21), representing the three copies of the 21st chromosome in individuals with Down syndrome. In celebration, Regal Crossroads Theater hosted “A Night with the Stars,” an opportunity for people with Down syndrome to walk the red carpet and to advocate for awareness.

The Utah Down Syndrome Foundation has been partnering with Regal for three years for this celebration. “We want them to know that they are celebrated just the way they are,” said Sara Jensen, member of The Utah Down Syndrome Foundation. “We want to make them feel like the stars that they are.”
