ICE asks Utah jail to hold suspect beyond local charges in attempted murder case

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requested that local officials keep a man in custody after his local charges are resolved. Jesus Alejandro Ramirez-Padilla, 30, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

According to court documents, Ramirez-Padilla is a Mexican national and did not possess any U.S. identification.

Information from a probable cause statement indicates that Salt Lake City Police Department officers responded to a report of a woman crying in an alley near 2525 South 500 East on March 18. Officers arrived at the scene and found the woman bleeding, with a deep cut along her neck.
