Woman Wanted on Murder Charges in Yavapai County Arrested in Utah

A Utah woman is in custody and facing murder charges in connection with a deadly crash on a Yavapai County highway more than a year ago.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 48-year-old Amy Lynn Mickelson was arrested last Thursday outside a Salt Lake City convenience store by U.S. Marshals. She is charged with three counts of second-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated assault, aggravated DUI, and additional felony charges.

The charges stem from a December 7th, 2024 crash on southbound U.S. 93 northwest of Wickenburg. DPS investigators say Mickelson crossed the center line while impaired, striking a minivan head-on. Three people in the minivan were killed at the scene. Four children between the ages of five and 16 were hospitalized with serious injuries.
