SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4) — Officials have identified the individual who was fatally shot by a Utah Highway Patrol officer on northbound I-15 on March 27.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on March 27, an individual rear ended a Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) vehicle near 4500 South. While the trooper activated his emergency lights, the suspect proceeded around the trooper and down the freeway.
Around 3300 South, the suspect stopped in the middle of the freeway, exited the vehicle, and brandished a knife. The trooper, who has not been identified, discharged his firearm, shooting the suspect.
