‘There is a better path forward’: Salt Lake County Mayor sends letter to DHS, urges them to abandon ICE warehouse

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson has sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security asking them not to use a recently-purchased SLC warehouse as an immigrant detention center.

Last month, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) purchased a warehouse at 6020 W and 300 S in Salt Lake City, later confirming that it would be used as a large-scale immigrant detention center.
