Local company files motion to sanction investigators in dismissed human trafficking case

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A local contracting company that was under investigation for alleged human trafficking says that the federal investigation has been dropped and that they have filed a motion asking the court to sanction investigators.

Rubicon Contracting LLC is a Bountiful landscaping company. In 2023, multiple executive officers in the company were arrested for aggravated human trafficking, with investigators stating that the company recruited employees from Mexico with the promise of a work visa, regular hours, and high pay.

The investigators alleged that the company failed to fulfill these promises and that employees were forced to work long hours with few breaks and inconsistent pay.
