Woman arrested, accused of putting juvenile in chokehold until she couldn’t breathe

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A woman is facing child abuse charges after allegedly putting a juvenile girl in a chokehold and applying pressure to her neck until she was unable to breathe.

Chris Surprise Konan, 24, has been arrested on one count of intentional aggravated child abuse (first-degree felony) and one count of intentional child abuse (Class A misdemeanor).

According to court documents, police responded to a Taylorsville residence where a juvenile female reported that she was assaulted by an adult woman, identified as Konan. The victim told police that she and Konan were engaged in a verbal altercation when Konan punched and hit her.

The victim also said that she was dragged through the residence by her hair and placed in a chokehold with pressure applied to her neck while being straddled by Konan. The pressure reportedly resulted in the victim’s inability to breathe temporarily…
