SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Over 100 power outages are impacting customers throughout Utah amid high winds.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, approximately 8500 customers are without power throughout Utah, with clusters of outages throughout Salt Lake County. There are approximately 156 separate outages right now.
Officials are still investigating the cause of many of the outages, though there are high wind warnings throughout Utah, which may be contributing to the outages.
At 1700 S 2100 E, there is a downed power line, caused by a tree that fell from the high winds, indicating one of the causes of current power outages. Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed it is blocking two blocks.
