A man accused of fatally shooting a man and injuring another during a birthday party at a South Side neighborhood bar went on trial Tuesday.
Ruben Cantu, 65, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the death of Ricky Marquez. Prosecutors also allege that he injured Andrew Rivera, an employee at the bar.
Cantu pleaded not guilty to both charges at the start of the trial. If convicted, he faces between five and 99 years in prison…
