Suspect convicted in deadly shooting case sentenced to 30 years in prison

SAN ANTONIO – A co-defendant in the February 2023 shooting death of Duniel Valladares Fernandez has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, closing out the prosecution of both men accused in the case, according to the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

Adis Hernandez-Rivas was sentenced Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the 187th District Court, which is presided over by Judge Stephanie Boyd. Prosecutors said Hernandez-Rivas pleaded guilty in a plea agreement and “accepted responsibility for his role in the offense.”

The district attorney’s office said law enforcement responded to a shooting in February 2023 and found Fernandez suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers and first responders rendered aid, but Fernandez died at the scene, the release said…
