Sanctus Ranch, the Hill Country retreat center prohibited by the Archdiocese of San Antonio from hosting official Catholic events, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Thursday after its owner said a dispute with a religious group contributed to a decline in retreat bookings.
In a bankruptcy declaration, owner Dan Sevigny said the Pipe Creek ranch had struggled financially for years and that declining bookings added to its troubles. He said Sanctus Ranch LLC also faces investor lawsuits and intends to sell the Bandera County property to repay creditors.
