San Antonio said goodbye to these restaurants in July 2026

The life cycle of a local restaurant is often unpredictable, which is why closures can come as a big surprise. This July, San Antonio said goodbye to more than a handful of restaurants, from longtime taco spots to brunch favorites.

If you haven’t been keeping up with restaurant news, here are eight San Antonio closures you need to know about.

El Fish Demon

El Fish Demon closed almost as quickly as it opened on Fredericksburg Road. The Mexican seafood concept replaced Tacopolis. Chef Alex Paredes announced its closure on July 7.

Full Belly Cafe + Bar

Full Belly Cafe + Bar closed both of its San Antonio locations earlier this year, but there is a glimmer of hope for fans of the local brunch favorite. A message on the restaurant’s Yelp profile indicates the business may return in 2027.

Candlelight

After 30 years of pouring coffee and wine along the St. Mary’s Strip, Candlelight Pourhouse closed its doors. In its place, a new concept, Vecino, will open in the near future.

Kuma

Asian ice cream shop Kuma made waves with its bubble waffle creations when the business first launched in 2017. The business would go on for nearly a decade before closing its last location in 2026.

Rolando’s Super Tacos

Like Fully Belly, Rolando’s Super Tacos on Shasta Avenue may be closed for now, but the cherished Southside spot may reopen at some point. At the moment, the building where the business operated is on the market for sale.

Taco Blvd

San Antonio-based Taco Blvd is known far and wide for its Rio Grande Valley-style tacos, amassing nearly 500,000 followers on Instagram since opening. However, the taco concept is without a functioning brick-and-mortar location after permanently closing its Alamo Ranch location and temporarily closing its Blanco Road location. The business continues to advertise online ordering.

Maple Street Biscuit Company

On July 20, Cracker Barrel announced that it closed more than a dozen Maple Street Biscuit Company locations as part of a sale of the brand to Biscuit Belly. Two of the three Maple Street locations in San Antonio were among those closed, but one still remains open in the Alamo Ranch area.

Guerito’s Tacos

Guerito’s Tacos vacated its Potranco Road location earlier this year, and more recently, the taco concept’s stand inside Ingram Park Mall’s food court also folded…
