For former TV reporter, telling stories is a lifelong calling

Years ago, Darlene Dorsey’s alarm clock buzzed her awake at 2 a.m., a time broadcast insiders call “dark 30 hour.”

She’d rise, get dressed and apply her makeup as streetlights lit the darkness. Then she’d drive to Fox 29/News4SA offices and prepare as the station’s early morning reporter. She covered one-minute segments in the field that included fires, crime, car wrecks and stories of the people.
