SAN ANTONIO – Two former employees at the GEO Karnes County Detention Facility have been arrested and federally indicted amid allegations they smuggled methamphetamine and other contraband into the facility in exchange for payment, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The U.S. Marshals Service San Antonio Division said Joseph Adrian Padilla, 50, and Julian Esquivel, 20, were arrested less than one week apart by U.S. Marshals and Drug Enforcement Administration agents following two separate federal investigations into alleged contraband smuggling schemes at the detention facility.
