San Antonio steakhouse with Mexican flair chops local presence in half

Some restaurants go out with a whisper rather than a bang, and such is true for one of Tu Asador Mexican Steakhouse’s two San Antonio-area locations. Two years after expanding to an additional location, the carne asada restaurant has cut its local presence in half, consolidating operations at its original Castle Hills home.

Over the past week or so, local reports have circulated about Tu Asador’s downsizing, with some outlets reporting that the Encino Rio location shuttered without any notice from the business. As of Tuesday morning, August 25, Tu Asador hasn’t publicly acknowledged the closing of its second location, but the business confirmed the closure in a direct message exchange with MySA.

“We truly enjoyed our time serving guests at our Encino Rio location. It was a rewarding experience in many ways. Given the challenging economy and the unique demands of that location, we made the difficult decision to close,” the business wrote in a direct message. “We’re deeply grateful to our team and guests for their support, and we’re focusing our energy on our well established  Castle Hills location, where our roots run deep.”…
