The Catholic community in San Antonio is mourning the death of a longtime priest and educator who served in various roles across the city for more than 50 years.
Monsignor Juan I. Alfaro, known affectionately as “Father Juan” to those he ministered to, died Wednesday, according to an online obituary. He was 87.
His death was announced Thursday in a social media post by Catholic Television of San Antonio. The post was shared by the Archdiocese of San Antonio and several local parishes, including St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where Alfaro served as pastor for 25 years. A cause of death was not listed…
