The Huebner Oaks shopping center’s renaissance continues to flourish as Hot Spot 61 brings its distinctive DIY hot pot concept to San Antonio customers for the first time at the popular retail site.
Hot Spot 61 is currently in its soft opening period, and MySA confirmed with owner Aki Yu that, for now, the hot pot business will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week except Tuesday. For those unfamiliar with hot pot, it’s a style of dining popular across Asia in which customers choose from a selection of ingredients and a broth base to create their own customized soups.
In many cases, hot pot restaurants feature hot plates or built-in stovetops so diners can cook their soups directly at the table, allowing them to add in fresh meats, vegetables and noodles at their own leisure. Hot Spot 61 differs in that customers pick out the ingredients they want first and pay $14.99 per pound regardless of what they select. After selecting a soup base, the chef team cooks everything in the back and the finished product is delivered to the table.
“We wanted people to have the hot pot in their own way. It’s DIY to let people choose however they want, whatever they want,” Yu told MySA during a brief phone call. “We are quite enjoying the opening phase.”…
