The list of thrift chains in San Antonio is pretty short. There are Texas Thrift and Goodwill, but many of the big national chains have yet to mosey into the Alamo City. Red White & Blue Thrift, a California-based chain, made its San Antonio debut earlier this year. But what can you expect to find at its shiny new Northeast Side store?
Red White & Blue Thrift, located at 5722 Walzem Road, is unique among many of the other big thrift names in town. It’s a massive store spanning more than 45,000 square feet, and it’s packed to the brim with clothing, shoes, accessories, homewares and appliances.
Digging through the racks, you’ll definitely find quirky and fun pieces. Splashy fast-fashion finds from obscure online brands may draw your attention. But if you keep digging, you can find some true vintage treasures.
Of course, London Fog trench coats are hanging around – though a bit overpriced at over $25 – and vintage labels are speckled throughout the men’s and women’s clothing aisles. For the most part, Red White & Blue Thrift staff know when to price things higher, tacking $35 to $50 price tags on wool coats or $99 on a Beau Brem coat. It’s not unheard of (these contain a high percentage of natural fibers and are true vintage scores), but it can stop feeling like a thrift store at times – particularly when they only accept cash…
