SAN ANTONIO – Drivers on and around Interstate 35 on the Northeast Side should plan for several overnight and daytime closures Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, as work continues on the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program.
The Texas Department of Transportation said the northbound I-35 frontage road north of Rittiman Road, including northbound I-35 Exit 164B, is scheduled to be closed from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, weather permitting. TxDOT urged drivers to follow detour signage.
For that closure, TxDOT said drivers on the northbound I-35 frontage road who need to continue beyond Rittiman Road will turn right onto Rittiman Road, then turn left onto Fratt Road. Drivers on Center Park Boulevard, Dinn Drive and Remount Drive who want to access northbound I-35 will head toward Fratt Road and turn left, then turn left onto Eisenhauer Road and follow it back to the northbound I-35 frontage road. Drivers on the northbound I-35 mainlanes who planned to exit to access Eisenhauer Road via Exit 164B will continue to Exit 165 to enter the northbound I-35 frontage road, make a U-turn at Walzem Road to enter the southbound I-35 frontage road, then turn left or right onto Eisenhauer Road…
