TULSA, Okla. – An Indian citizen living in the United States on a student visa has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his role in a fraud scheme that targeted a 79-year-old Vietnam veteran and other elderly victims across several states.
U.S. District Judge John D. Russell sentenced Venkateswara Chagamreddy, 37, of San Antonio, to 30 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $99,496 in restitution.
Chagamreddy was convicted by a federal jury of conspiring to defraud the Oklahoma veteran. Federal prosecutors said he is expected to face immigration removal proceedings after completing his sentence…
