South Texas TV journalist announces departure in emotional video

A recent University of Texas at San Antonio grad is saying goodbye to the South Texas airwaves shortly after graduating from UTSA and celebrating her wedding.

Marixa Zamora — now Marixa Jones — announced her departure from Entravision Communications in McAllen, in the Rio Grande Valley, with a video montage on social media on Wednesday, September 16. For more than three years, Jones has worked as a bilingual multimedia journalist at two network television affiliates Entravision operates in deep South Texas — KFXV Fox Rio Grande Valley, on channel 60, and Univision affiliate KNVO Noticias 48.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity my community and my incredible news crew have given me to start my career,” Jones said on Facebook.

While reporting in both English and Spanish, Jones has also spent the last several years as a “first-generation” college student at UTSA, according to her LinkedIn. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communication this May, then just a few months later, celebrated her nuptials with Seth Jones in Florida, according to posts on Facebook…
