A Shark Tank-approved ice cream franchise is investing in San Antonio. Crispy Cones will open its first area location in the Northwoods shopping center at 18130 San Pedro Ave. on the North Side.
Crispy Cone’s signature is a hand-rolled pastry shell that is grilled rotisserie-style, dusted in cinnamon sugar or rotating coatings like salted caramel, then packed with soft serve and various toppings. The actual ice cream menu is relatively simple, with flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and specials such as maple doughnut.
Founder Jeremy Carlson was inspired to create the concept after a trip to the Czech Republic, where he encountered trdelník — or chimney cakes — a similar cone dessert served by street vendors in Prague.
