San Antonio should watch for potential road flooding as rain moves through the area. If you need to drive Thursday, watch for low-water crossings and flood-prone areas. The Bexar Flood map lists 21 road closures around San Antonio in real time.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for much of South and Central Texas from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Friday. A cold front with tropical moisture will bring periods of heavy rainfall that could lead to life-threatening flash flooding.
Bexar County Public Works crews have deployed and pre-positioned barricades ahead of known low-water crossings and other areas known to flood. Additional staff have been notified to stand by if more manpower is needed. All public works crews will monitor creeks and check drainage ways and low-water crossings to ensure they are free of debris that could dam water during heavy rain, the county said.
