Twenty years ago, Potranco Road west of Texas 211 was surrounded by scrubland, with hardly a rooftop in sight. Today, it’s lined with densely-packed residential neighborhoods and retail centers — yet it remains just two lanes.
The Texas Department of Transportation is looking to change that. It is asking area residents and commuters to weigh in on a plan to expand the two-mile stretch of Potranco between Texas 211 and Country Road 381 to six lanes, with raised concrete medians, drainage enhancements and paths for cyclists and pedestrians.
The agency is hosting an open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the San Antonio Glasshouse at 3847 Grosenbacher Road.
