The San Antonio Spurs had a dominant run that saw them go to the playoffs in 22 consecutive seasons and win at least 50 games in 18 straight campaigns. During that stretch, they won five NBA championships in three different decades.
The franchise rightfully retired the jerseys of the key players during that dynasty run – David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, Bruce Bowen, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. But according to former Spurs player Stephen Jackson , one name is missing from that list.
“I feel like San Antonio has to retire Malik Rose’s jersey,” said Jackson. “For what he did for the organization in the time he was there. He wasn’t there for all those championships. But the time he was there, he was asked to play a big role. I was there and I seen it.”

Rose was the Charlotte Hornets’ 44th pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. After playing his rookie season with the Hornets, the Spurs signed him as a free agent. Right away, he became a popular figure because of his hustle, defense, and ability to play beyond his size.
