It was a spa day of sorts for one happy hippo at the San Antonio Zoo as he received a little royal treatment from his favorite human.
In this adorable video shared on San Antonio Zoo’s official TikTok account, we see Timothy the hippo indulging in a relaxing snout massage that sent him straight to cloud nine. Just look at those eyes!
The fact that Timothy looks genuinely relieved as he’s receiving this massage warms my heart. This gentle giant is in a pure state of bliss. And while I understand hippos sometimes get a bad rap for being a little more aggressive in the wild, Timothy is simply a lover. And he deserves all the snout massages he can get!

That said, a lot of folks in the comments are expressing how lucky Timothy’s masseuse is for getting to do this, and they certainly aren’t wrong. Not just anyone can get this close to a hippo and gently interact with them. It’s almost hard to believe just how dangerous these gentle giants can truly be in their natural habitats. But again, what’s important is that Timothy is the exception. Timothy is a gentleman.
