Texas Under Severe Storm Threat: Thunderstorms & Tornadoes Expected

In a critical weather update issued by the Storm Prediction Center today, residents across central and southern Texas, including major cities such as San Antonio, Austin, Round Rock, San Angelo, and Cedar Park, are on high alert as they face a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. The forecast, effective from 101300Z to 111200Z, also highlights areas under marginal risk, extending to a broader population including Houston, Jackson, Pasadena, Waco, and Abilene, affecting over 14 million Americans within a combined area of more than 155,000 square miles.

The severe weather threat is part of a larger system, with central and southern Texas identified as regions at particular risk for thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, isolated damaging winds, and a notable tornado threat this afternoon and into the night.
