The revelation in the missing person case came during a Sunday vigil at San Antonio’s Lourdes Grotto, where Simpson’s mother recalled a phone call she had with her daughter prior to her Oct. 6 disappearance.

“She called me up and told me the things Brad had done to her physically,” Simpson’s mother, Barbra Clark, said during the vigil, the daily reports. “Well, I came up with an alternative plan for her and hoped that she would move in with me. I never got to tell her the plan.”

Clark’s comments are the latest twist in the headline-grabbing case.

Simpson and her husband Brad both attended an event at the exclusive Argyle Club on the night of Oct. 6, according to authorities.

Afterward, the couple had a physical altercation in front of their $1.4 million Olmos Park mansion, and neighbor said he saw Brad Simpson “grabbing [Suzanne Simpson’s] upper torso area to gain control of her body,” according to a police report.
