San Antonio TV anchor exits, arrivals and layoffs in February

The second month of the year brought a lot of changes to San Antonio TV newsrooms. From the departure of a San Antonio anchor to layoffs, here’s a look at some of the top TV news stories in February.

KENS 5 traffic anchor announces departure

On February 14, Jessica Coombs , who has anchored both the 4:30 a.m. news and the 5-7 a.m. traffic report, revealed she is leaving the morning anchor desk. She joined the KENS family two years ago.

“San Antonio is a special place. I want to thank the wonderful people who make this city what it is,” Coombs said in a KENS 5 report . “Early hours are always made easier when you know your ‘why,’ and for me, it has always been each of you.”

Coombs will make her final appearance on the KENS 5 Morning News on March 7.

Meteorologist Mia Montgomery exits KSAT

San Antonio viewers are saying goodbye to meteorologist Mia Montgomery . She announced her exit from KSAT on February 16. After more than two and a half years in front of the green screen reporting the weather to KSAT 12 viewers, and five years in TV, Montgomery says she is “hanging up my broadcast meteorology hat.”…
