The Alameda Theater , an ornate movie palace that showcased Spanish-language films and live entertainment from some of the day’s top stars, held its grand opening on March 10, 1949.
The long-shuttered theater on West Houston Street closed in the 1980s, years after its heyday that saw Mexican superstars Cantinflas, Pedro Infante and María Félix grace its stage.
