SAN ANTONIO — Nearly two years after Melissa Perez was fatally shot by San Antonio police responding to a mental health crisis, legal proceedings for the three officers who fired their weapons are moving at a gradual pace.
The trials have still not begun for murder suspects Alfred Flores and Eleazar Alejandro, nor for Nathaniel Villalobos, who is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Perez’s loved ones hope a trial date is set on April 1, which is when the trio is scheduled to appear in court next.
