Another closure has hit the San Antonio food and drink scene after a property agreement could not be reached between a local Cajun barbecue joint and its landlord.
225 Urban Smoke has announced that it will close in the coming weeks as it will not be able to secure a lease on its home of six years. The news dropped in a Facebook post from the business on Tuesday, March 25.
“After six wonderful years serving our community at 225°Urban Smoke in this shopping center, we have some difficult news to share. We’ve been negotiating with our new landlord for the past year and a half, but unfortunately, we couldn’t reach an agreement on a sustainable lease rate. Given the current economic climate and the challenges facing small businesses, the proposed near-doubling of our lease payment simply wasn’t viable,” the business wrote.
225 Urban smoke went on to promise it wouldn’t disappear entirely. The concept, founded by Samuel Ransom Jr. and Daniel Antonio Jimenez in 2019 , will live on in the form of catering and pop-up, the Facebook post said…
