Find the country’s cheapest carton of eggs at your nearest H-E-B, study says

Egg prices throughout the U.S. hit a record high of $4.95 for a dozen in January, amid the ongoing bird flu outbreak .

Grocery shoppers and local San Antonio restaurants are feeling the pinch of soaring sticker shock. Prices have more than doubled since before the outbreak began in 2022, and the U.S. Agriculture Department predicts egg prices could rise more than 40% in 2025 .

Luckily, Texas’ favorite grocery store has the cheapest option in the country. In a recent study from FinanceBuzz , the personal finance brand revealed that H-E-B has the lowest price for a dozen eggs among the nation’s largest grocers. During the week of March 17, a dozen store-brand or generic white eggs cost $4.49 at H-E-B. Kroger came in second with $5.31 per dozen. Meanwhile, those on a budget should avoid Publix, $6.16 for a dozen, and Aldi’s, $5.97 a dozen…
